Why you should consider going on a retreat for burnout instead of planning a vacation.
Ever go on vacation just to come home and need a vacation from your vacation, stressed that the time away didn’t “fix” your burn out?
The truth is, waiting until you get burnt out to take a vacation is like slapping an expensive Band-Aid on a broken arm.
But there is one exception – going on Retreat.
For burnout, the best course of action is prevention and making day-to-day changes to reduce your stressors, process your stress in a healthier way, and off-load some of your mental load.
But if you’re already at that point, a retreat is a great way to jumpstart your recovery back to finding your inner peace and stillness.

Here are six reasons why a retreat is better than a vacation if you’re feeling overwhelmed or burnt out:
1. No Planning Required
When you’re burnt out, the last thing you want to do is spend hours, days or weeks planning a vacation. Retreats already have everything planned out for you, from your activities to your meals. All you need to do is show up and enjoy the experience.
2. Retreats are Designed for Rest, Relaxation, Healing, and Growth
Even though we plan to relax on vacation, vacations can be a lot of work. Retreats are specifically designed to help you rest, relax, heal, and grow so that you can go back home refreshed.
3. Connect with Like-Minded People
One of the great things about retreats is that you’ll be surrounded by like-minded people who are on a similar journey to you. This gives you an opportunity to connect, share, and feel validated in a way that you might not be able to do at home.
4. Long-Term Benefits
Retreats are designed to teach you deep lessons and skills that can transform your life, like managing your stress better and connecting with yourself more deeply. These are tools that you can take home with you and use to prevent burnout in the future.
5. Healthy Eating
Eating healthy while on vacation can be a challenge as most restaurants or resorts have unhealthy foods on the menu. But most retreats are focused on providing local, healthy, and delicious meals. You’ll be able to indulge in tasty, nutritious food without worrying about gaining the vacation 10.
6. Let Someone Else Take Care of You
Finally, going on a retreat means that someone else will be taking care of you for a change. They are there to hold space for you and facilitate an environment for healing and growing. You won’t have to worry about cooking, cleaning, or planning activities. All you need to do is relax and enjoy the experience.
The Bottom Line
Don’t wait until you’re burnt out to take a break. Give yourself the gift of rest, relaxation, and growth by going on a retreat.
