Getting dumped about five weeks before my wedding, I went on my Eat, Pray, Love adventure, and it started by going on my very first healing retreat. This was a yoga retreat in a place called Sandwich, New Hampshire, and it really was an amazing experience and a huge part of my healing and growth journey. 

I actually had an experience where I almost passed out. We were doing an exercise where another woman had her hands on my back and we were trying to match our breathing together. All of a sudden, my vision started getting smaller, and I just felt like, oh, my God, if I don’t get down on the floor, I’m going to pass out. 

It was months later where someone made this connection for me that I was healing from a heartbreak. This person was – in a very loving way – connecting with my heart region, and I felt an emotional sensation coming through my body that I wasn’t prepared for. 

My body reacted in such a way that I almost passed out. 

Now, after that experience that weekend, I felt like a weight had come off of my chest, but it took a few months for me to make that connection. Amazing things happen when we step away and go on retreat.
