TODAY’S LESSON
Curiosity versus Judgment. Inquire and Investigate with Interest and Care.
Jump to: Weekly Meditation | Journal Prompt | Affirmation
Today’s lesson you’ll learn:
- How to access your emotional toolbox.
- Using Curiosity to get in control over your emotional experience.
Inquire, Investigate with Interest and Care. This is the “I” in RAIN.
If you are stressed or resisting an uncomfortable emotion or sensation – you’ll find yourself in survival mode. There’s a wall up to keep you safe – which means theres a wall between you and your emotional toolbox.
In that toolbox is curiosity. We can’t be defensive and curious at the same time. Curiosity needs the wall to come down so that it may receive new information. Our toolbox is in our Zone of Control.
Today – Practice the “isn’t that interesting” technique. We’ve already established that the ideas in our heads are not truths. At this stage in the process, you can use your natural curiosity to delve more deeply into your discomfort. Ask yourself “What triggered this? When have I felt this way before? How is this not true? What do I really need right now?”
